CITY OF TROY HORSE OF THE YEAR IN ENGLAND

22 November 2024

Despite the disappointment suffered in the US Breeders’ Cup Classic City Of Troy still received the British Horse of the Year award on the Cartier-sponsored evening at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The son of Justify won the award thanks to his successes in the Epsom Derby, the Eclipse Stakes and the Juddmonte International Stakes. Competing against him for what is the Oscar of British galloping were Kyprios, Bluestocking and Charyn. City Of Troy also won, logically, the prize for best 3-year-old. It should be noted that he is only the second horse after Frankel to receive the overall Horse of the Year award, having been awarded Best Two-Year-Old Foal the previous winter.
Charyn won the Prix Cartier Age Horse of the Year, while Kyprios took home the trophy for best Stayer. Trainer Jessica Harrington, among others, was also honoured for her pupils’ excellent performances in both flat and steeplechase competitions.
