EAST ASIA SECOND, EXECUTIV EK THIRD IN PRIX BOLD EAGLE

26 January 2025

Great performance by the Italian five-year-olds in the Prix Bold Eagle. East Asia, for a long time at the back of the field, showed off a tuning fork finish and finished in second place behind her colour partner Kokote, driven by Mathieu Mottier, owned by Monsieur PMU Jean Pierre Barjon, who thus conquered a historic pairing. In third place was an excellent Executiv Ek who ran as a protagonist for the entire 2700 metres of the course. The chronometric partial reads an average of 1.11.6 and 1.11.7 respectively over the 2700 metres for the two natives. Completing the excellent result of the Italian horses was also the sixth place of Encierro with Gaspare Lo Verde. Alessandro Gocciadoro, trainer of East Asia and also riding Executiv Ek, whose caps did not come off in the last few metres of the race, was disappointed: ‘We probably would have won…’.

Bjorn Goop, second with East Asia said: ‘She was a bit of a problem in the early stages, but in the last 500 metres she stretched out very well, gave a great performance and maybe with a few more metres the final result would have been different.’
