HENRI POURET NEW CHAIRMAN OF EMHF

20 November 2024

At the meeting of the Executive Council of the EMHF (European and Mediterranean Horseracing Federation) held in Casablanca, Morocco, last weekend, Frenchman Henri Pouret was elected as President. He thus succeeds Irishman Brian Kavanagh, who has held the post since the Federation’s foundation in 2010.

Henri Pouret is currently Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at France Galop, the governing body of thoroughbred racing in France, and was also recently elected as Vice-President of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

Immediately after his election, Pouret said: ‘I am honoured and very grateful to the Executive Council for the confidence shown in me and for giving me the honour of taking on the role of President of the EMHF as successor to Brian, who has done an extraordinary job. I am a great fan of European and Mediterranean racing in all its diversity. Europe is a leader in many aspects of horse racing, especially in quality control and important racing. I am very confident in the development for the years to come and I intend to devote myself fully to this new role in collaboration with the member horse racing authorities and the invaluable experience of Secretary General Dr. Paull Khan’.

Brian Kavanagh, will continue as President until 1 June 2025
