Rather followed by the bettors Iroise de La Noe won the Prix de Belgique, the last of the qualifying races for the Prix d’Amerique on Sunday 26 January. The daughter of Tornado Bello, driven, trained and owned by Thomas Levesque, took the lead at the end of the descent in front of the grandstands and from then on held on to the lead, finishing at an average of 1.12.1 per km over the 2850 metres, just one tenth off the race record, which belongs to Davidson Du Pont set in 2021. Iroise de La Noe had been second in the final of the Grand National du Trot at the beginning of December and clearly earned a place among the 18 starters in the Prix d’Amerique.
Second place went to Ideal Ligneries, third to Hooker Berry and fourth to the eve’s favourite It’s a Dollarmaker. Seventh place for Ampia Mede Sm who took to the track, as preannounced, more than anything else to refresh her condition and in any case was the protagonist of a good second part of the course starting from the rear.
The third place of Hooker Berry (who had already placed third in the Bretagne) in fact frees up a place for the repechage on the basis of the sums won, and in the special list of entrants, to occupy that position, after the announced withdrawal of Gu d’Heripre‘, is Dimitri Ferm who could now be at the start in a fortnight’ time. The first repechagees will be Ampia Mede Sm and Don Fanucci Zet.
