THE DECREE WITH THE RACECOURSES CLASSIFICATION HAS BEEN PUBLISHED. LA PIETRA: “AN EPOCH-MAKING CHANGE”

19 December 2024

Tuesday afternoon saw the publication of the decree signed by the Generaò Manager for Horse Racing Remo Chiodi, regarding the classification of racecourses and the relative order of rankings. Compared to the version made public in Verona, there have been some “alignments” following the sworn expert opinions sent by the various racecourses on the technical data.

In a note issued in the afternoon following the publication of the Decree, the Undersecretary to the Masaf with Delegation to Horse Racing Senator Patrizio Giacomo La Pietra said:

“With the publication of the decree on the classification of racecourses we officially kick off an epoch-making change for Italian horse racing. All the protagonists in the sector had been asking for a change of pace for years, and with this decree we are giving answers that are as concrete as they have been awaited for too long’. .
“The decree on the classification of racecourses is the fundamental tool, “ continued Undersecretary La Pietra, ” never before realised, to start the process of modernisation and efficiency of the entire horse-racing system. Today’s is a first fundamental step along the path that, in the near future, will tend increasingly to reward those who know how to invest well in facilities.  I repeat that the classification is susceptible to change thanks precisely to the dynamic concept we want to apply. In simple terms, those who invest more and above all better in the future of racecourses will be rewarded, year by year, precisely for their ability to raise the quality of the national facilities system. This is not a goal, but a certain starting point, based on objective, technical data, which take a precise snapshot of the facilities. Subsequently, with the imminent establishment of a specific commission, the qualitative aspect of the individual plant will also be assessed. In short,’ concludes Undersecretary La Pietra , ’a virtuous path that finally provides a concrete response to the many demands of the sector.
