As is tradition, on the sidelines of the Circuit Uet final, the 81.a assembleea of the Uet Board of Directors, namely the body that oversees European harness racing, will be held on Saturday morning in Turin. Italy will be represented by UET Vice President Dr Tamara Papiccio. Many issues are on the agenda, such as the revision of the points to be awarded for the standings in those races using the Heat and Final format (Elitloppet, Lotteria, European Championship). The discussion concerns above all those horses that fail to reach the final stage. There will then be discussion of the request submitted by Masaf to include the Gran Premio Gaetano Turilli among the races valid for the Elite Circuit starting from December 2027, therefore for the 2027/2028 edition.
On the sporting side there will be a report on the European Championship for apprentices and at the same time the drivers who will represent Europe at the next World Championship scheduled for 2027 in Canada will have to be appointed, in addition the agenda for the World Trotting Conference scheduled in New Zealand will have to be established and planned.
Obviously attention will also be paid to animal welfare. The relevant Committee should issue a recommendation to avoid holding races on days with high temperatures. No less important is the session that will have to set out the guidelines against harassment and abuse in harness racing, which have returned to the forefront following the latest cases reported in Northern Europe
During the afternoon, meetings of the Technical Committee (Italian representative Stefano Sedia) and the Breeding Committee (Italian representative Roberto Toniatti) will then be held.
