The runners for the Gran premio Continentale (Group 1 for four-year-olds over the distance of 2060 metres) and the corresponding Filly, which will be held next Sunday at the Arcoveggio racecourse in Bologna, were declared this morning, together with the draw for the numbers. No surprises, or almost none, compared with the entries.
There will in fact be eight runners in the open race, which will also feature Ginger Gio, whom trainer Sebastian Guarato will send from France. Worth noting is the presence of Giovaz, the only female in the field, and Derby-winner Gabrioz, who will be entrusted, as in the Nastro Azzurro, to Swedish driver Orjan Kihlstrom, although with a less than favourable number. The “pole position” instead went to Galileo Ferm, winner in the spring of the Premio Regione Campania at Agnano (Group 2)
The race reserved exclusively for females (Group 2 over the mile) will instead feature ten runners and looks particularly open. There are three trainees from the Gocciadoro team, Glamour Queen, Geber’s Dream and Gioconda Jet, two from Mauro Baroncini, Gloria Italia and Giorgia d’Esi, the French Milles Etoiles from scuderia Mistero and a group of other strong contenders for a race that looks very open.
Here are the official runners:
